Groovy Dork List....MOTUC, Magic, Coffee, Pathfinder, Arkham, and MineCraft.

Groovy...I was able to find a massive local source of Masters of the Universe items!  A dude at the Barnyard Flea-market sells them.  Workable on the price (I AM a cheapskate, remember!), and also a knowledgeable and enthusiastic fan.  I will be reviewing the three items I picked up today soon!

Dork...The problem finally appeared.  Snout Spout has a crack in his trunk.  The trunk is apparently made of blue foam-rubber.  :(



Groovy...I am Back-in-Black!  I am playing Mono-black devotion as my current for Magic: the Gathering strategy!  Just keep putting black permanents out, get that devotion ramped up, and then slam the opponent with a Grey Merchant of Asphodel.  And unless they cancel the Merchant, there is little they can do.  The fine folk at the Tangled Web were ready to trade the other day.  I scored a few more Nightveil Spectors, which I really, really needed, and a Desecration Demon as well!  Readers of this blog will know that my color is black.  I have recently been playing other colors, but it seems the old dark evil ways are returning!

Dork...Don't get me wrong...I had a blast, but I would play someone, anyone really, for almost 45 minutes.  And then somehow lose...I would disrupt their strategies over and over, only to be trumped eventually.  You can only run Four gray merchants!



Groovy...In the same vein...The Born of the Gods set looks amazing!  I can't wait to see what else they reveal.  I have preordered a box, and me and my two boys are going to play in the sealed deck pre-release.  I already see cards with promise for the Fencing Ace deck, and for the black devotion deck.  The inspired mechanic sounds interesting, and Mogis, God of the Slaughter is going to be crazy!

Dork...They haven't released a new challenge deck  :(  The Hydra has been a blast!



Groovy...The Keurig Vue system is wonderful!  This machine makes not only coffee, but cafe drinks and iced tea!  Most everything I have tried tastes great!

Dork...(semi-dork, I guess)...Those Vue cups cost a bunch.  BUT, I am subscribed to the Cafe Express Savings Club, that basically means I only pay half for the Vue cups.



Groovy...I am now a Dungeon Master...I mean Game Master.  Me and the SpartanSmurfs, and even the SpartanWife have been playing Pathfinder.  This is our first taste of this kind of gaming.  I don't know what I think about it yet.  I like being the game master.  But I don't always feel like it.  These games tend to run over an hour.  Also, the SpartanSmurfs are too easily killed off.  I have to be careful not to off them unintentionally.  This has already happened three times.  The first time I considered it a real death, to try and send them a message.  I didn't like it, though.  So I have been inserting lucky saves into the game.

Dork...I have a pretty good imagination, and can flesh out the Pathfinder world pretty good for the boys.  But they on the other hand tend to just want to battle constantly, rather than take in their world.



Groovy...I have been playing Batman: Arkham Asylum again.  That game is terrific!  I especially like taking out the armed thugs!  That is a lot of fun.

Dork...I don't get MineCraft.  I played it.  I just don't get it.

Masters of the Universe Classics Unboxing and Review....The Griffin!

Well I think I have an even more impressive figure to review, now!  The GRIFFIN!

The Griffin is AMAZING!  Who would have thought we could get this?  And it seems very calculated as well, being an amalgamation of Battle Cat and Swift Wind.

In the Mike Young cartoon, griffins were the bad guy's main mode of escape.  They would start to lose, and the griffins would swoop in and grab the villains and take them to safety.

This creature absolutely fits in my nerd closet with the Magic cards and other stuff like that.  I'd bet I have several dozen Griffin Magic cards...

When I first saw the Griffin, I thought, "Do I really want that?"  Then I got Vikor, and thought, "The Griffin would be a great ride for Vikor."  It didn't take too long for me to figure out, Vikor isn't riding any steed, with that loincloth.  But it was worth a try.

I got the Griffin as a part of the Cyber Monday sale, as mentioned on the Groovy Dork List.  And am I glad I did!  This figure is the most impressive figure I may own!

He came in this big box.  It is so big, I decided to use it as a background!

Here he is in his ugliness!  Awesome ugliness at that!

When you take him out of the box, you see that you have to assemble the wings to his body.

He has a double tail...the kind of thing that was favored on the MYP show.

I don't own a Beast-Man, so Spikor will have to do.  Ugly riding Ugly!

I dreamed of putting Vikor on the Griffin.  Alas, his loincloth was too much.

You can see that he has a cool mane.  His backside is just the Battle-Cat buck, with chicken feet.

What do Griffin's eat?  Temple of Darkness Zoar!  (not included of course)

Here is an overhead shot.  This figure is HUGE!

I give the Griffin a 5/5!  He is solid.  Huge.  Fits in most contexts.  Ugly in a beautiful way.  He is one of the best figures I own as far as sculpt, displayability, playability, and on and on!

Groovy Dork List....Cyber Monday edition

Groovy...I picked up a Griffin, Battleground Teela, and Sky High with Jet Sled.  Reviews will be posted when I get them!

Dork...I missed my chance with Mosquitor.  I finally decided I didn't really want Keldor just for his cape (not for $21), and decided against the Snake Warriors too.

Groovy...I was rewarded a gift certificate from Wulven Entertainment for my investment in their property when I purchased physical Shadow Era: The Call of the Crystals cards from them two summers ago.  (One of the best investments ever in nerd property!)

Dork...For some stupid reason I can't seem to get the gift credit to redeem.  I am supposed to purchase  a booster box of the next Shadow Era set, "Dark Prophecies."  But when I get to the billing screen the credit isn't showing.  :(  (I would desperately like to review some of these physical cards...)



Groovy...My Macbook Pro has been doing fine....Then I started hearing clicking and whirring....Thinking it a dying hard drive, I replaced it and upgraded it.  Now it has a 1TB hybrid drive.  That is more storage space than all of my other computing devices combined!

Dork...The whirring and clicking continues...and my battery is draining faster.  I know now that it wasn't the hard drive failing at all, but the fan.  (The battery probably is affected by the new Hard Drive as well.)  I have disassembled my machine and tried air spraying it out.  But that hasn't worked.  I think the axle needs some grease...But I don't have the required TORX screwdrivers to take the fan apart.


Groovy...I have been playing Batman:Arkham Asylum.  This is my second play through.  When I played it before, it was on Steam, and on the Windows partition of my (old) hard drive.  I went ahead and purchased the Mac version...It is every bit as good without the hassle of Steam and Windoze.

Dork...I am ditching a few comic subscriptions.  Aquaman has bored me to death.  And I am shucking Action Comics as well.  I love Superman.  But the comics lose me.  The writers insist that you buy into the whole eco-system in order to understand what is going on.  I subscribed to Action Comics, thinking that I wouldn't have all of that "continuity misunderstanding" trouble.  I would have every issue.  Makes sense.  But Superman is continually being crossed over...And this complicates the story, as well as frustrates me because I feel a need to have a complete story, and so I have to go hunt the issues of other titles I am not subscribed to.  I have a longing to read "H'el On Earth," which is mostly a Supergirl story...because of the Action Comics Annual #2.  Also, because I haven't been reading Superman (the title) I have missed a lot of stuff about Brainiac, which was important to the last Action Comics story arc "Psi War."  I am done.  Sorry Supes.  Maybe if they go back to writing you like they did back at the beginning of the New 52, I will return.

So what will I subscribe to in their places?  I am thinking maybe something Marvel..Maybe they will cure the whole Superior Spider-man complex.  Either that, or maybe I will just invest in the Ninja Turtle eco-system again.  I stopped buying those books only because my brain couldn't take any more fantasy.  But lately I am missing something a little different.  The biggest problem here is you pretty much have to buy them in the store.  The Tangled Web keeps them in stock in general, but just the same, I feel I have to get them once I get started.  Then again, maybe I'll just subscribe to the Justice League again.  I suppose I have a little time to consider it.  One thing is certain, I have been very satisfied with reading Batman stories!
